Definitive Technology Speaker Review 2022 – For you, we’ve included detailed information on the most popular goods in this category in this post. We have done our homework for you. A buying guide has also been included.

#01 – Definitive Technology Studio Monitor 55 (Ea.) 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker

These are fantastic. Updating my decisive pro 600 speaker system. The speakers are powered by a Yamaha a1060 (110w/ch). we  updated the centre speaker to a pro2000. Now for the left and right sm55s. These are really versatile. The Yamaha was set to 2ch stereo with the subwoofer turned off.

Just put on some Pandora music and it sounded excellent with country, techno, and rock. Then We switched on the subwoofer and had no idea it was on. However, the bass on them is sufficient to fill my 20×35 foot space.

This is an excellent collection. We did not compare seven sets of speakers to get at this one. Not the greatest idea to go on name recognition only. not dissatisfied. At low settings, these speakers fill my bedroom with beautiful sound without waking up the rest of the home.

The subwoofer is incorporated into these speakers. The sub bass is smooth and well-integrated, bringing the whole system to life. The sound is loud and dynamic without getting muddy in my opinion. The bass is crisp and precise without being overpowering. It sounds like a single speaker rather than many speakers plus a bass cube.

Set the Yamaha to surround mode and go on a trip (I like adventure dsp mode better than surround when watching cable). Watched a scene from the movies Die Hard and Mission Impossible.  forward to seeing how they progress over the following few months.

Pros

  • Lovin it!! So much better now
  • Tower sound in a bookshelf package

Cons

  • Unmatched sound quality for the price point!!!

#02 – Definitive Technology Procenter 1000 Compact Center Speaker (Single, Black)

Over the previous few years, we’ve gone through a lot of speaker sets in quest of clear communication. Panasonic, Vizio, Energy, and Klipsch Reference were all unable to meet the challenge. Then we discovered the pro centre 1000, and everything is well in the conversation department. My wife was continuously requesting that the volume be increased so order to hear the voice from other brands. DefTech overcomes this with pinpoint accuracy, allowing you to hear the speech even at low volumes. You can’t go wrong unless you’re into elite ultra-expensive systems. Just wish We had discovered DefTech years ago.

The bass radiators and the drivers are not 4.5″. The bass radiators and the drivers are each 3.5″. Not only is the information mentioned here wrong, but we also questioned whether the drivers were 4.5″ and was told they were by three different people. Very dissatisfied.

we’ve owned various centre speakers over the years, most recently a Polk Audio Signature Series S35, as have many other reviewers. The Polk S35 is a great-sounding, well-made speaker, but it’s too big to fit within our TV/audio stand, and it obscured the bottom TV screen. The Definitive Technology ProCenter 1000 was the right size for our display.

Pros

  • Incredibly clear, precise, detailed sound from surround sources (TV & movies)
  • Compact size allows several instillation options
  • Built in adjustable stand, tilts speaker up, down or level
  • Price, best compact center speaker for $200 or less

Cons

  • Very bright initial sound quality
  • Requires 48 hours or more of sound play to “break in” for desired sound quality
  • Front bottom speaker case contact points slide on smooth surfaces, no pads included
  • Poor sound from music

#03 – Definitive Technology W7 Wireless Speaker (Black)

After being pleased with the W Studio Micro, We decided to purchase the W7 to complete the 5.1 surround sound system.

The W7 speakers sound fantastic, and wireless music streaming is a dream. If you want to set up surround sound on the back speakers, you must connect them to 5 GHz otherwise the configuration will fail. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands of the Netgear Orbi router are integrated and cannot be separated. To guarantee that your speaker connects to the 5GHz while setting up, go into your advanced choices and disable the 2.4 GHz.

Usually don’t usually post reviews, but We felt obliged after reading some of the poor reviews for this speaker.

Pros

  • Speakers sound amazing!

Cons

  • Functionalities are not in one “all-in-one” app. Apps are not designed well and unintuitive. The “Definitive Utility” app is useless. For real their apps are rated 1-2 stars on the Apple App Store

#04 – Definitive Technology SM45 Bookshelf Speaker – Black

The tweeter isn’t very good. The SM45 is a fantastic choice if you are sensitive to harsh treble. I would not pay more than 120 dollars each person. They’re a decent speaker, but nothing exceptional. They are also not worth $200.

These decisive tech SM45 are one of the greatest bookshelf speakers we’ve ever bought…. after a few months, the sounds have opened up and the bass is shockingly low for the driver size… my guess is it can go as low as 30hz and the tweeters are clean and smooth… If you’re searching for fantastic bookshelf speakers for around $500, go no further than the SM45!

Pros

  • Build Quality
  • Price (if you get them on sale for $99 each)
  • Looks
  • Quality of drivers

Cons

  • Price (if you have to pay full price)
  • Did not seem to pair well with any center channel options I tried
  • Not as full sounding as the 3-way speakers I am used to, but not all that bad either

#05 – Definitive Technology Mythos SSA-42: Single speaker surround solution

We was trying to come up with a viable AV solution for our living room. We wanted something that could be used for music as well as film and television. My wife simply desired something discreet.

In early November 2009, we ordered a Mythos Surround Array 442 Speaker from Best Buy. We were informed it was on back order and will arrive on December 2, 2009. The pricing at Best Buy was $799. Best Buy couldn’t guarantee when it will be delivered after December 2nd. We cancelled our order and began looking for something else. Our first stop was Amazon.com, where we discovered a new one for $399. We leapt, and it was beneath our Samsung 46-inch LCD two days later.

Pros

  • Fantastic Marriage of Sound Bar and Sub at a Great Price
  • Great sound with incredible Surround effects

Cons

  • Not surround sound, just awesome sound

#06 – Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 5.1 Home Theater Speaker System (black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The subwoofer was dead on arrival, and it wouldn’t even turn on. Because it was acquired through Amazon, which is not a “approved dealer,” the manufacturer would not assist. This business does not stand behind its faulty items. Do not buy unless you are purchasing from a physical store where you can return it if (when) it fails.

We really pleased with these speakers; they complement our surround sound system well. They’re a fantastic size, with a deep sound and a lot of boom from the sub woofer, but they’re not as big as most coffee tables.

We’ve heard some of the greatest satellite speakers We’ve ever heard. These and the energy classic were on my mind. I’m very delighted We chose these. The satellite speakers are more substantial than they appear. It has a nice feel and quality. Def Tech has been in the industry for a long time and knows what they’re doing.

The power and quality of this very little machine astounded me. It was debating between this and a Bose system, and glad we went with this. My 14×24 living area is flooded with sound.

Pros

  • Great system
  • Great sound for the price
  • Sounds great paired with Denon 1300 receiver

Cons

  • Subwoofer dead on arrival

#07 – Definitive Technology SoloCinema Studio Soundbar

It was quite satisfied for the first year….. The soundbar’s connection to the subwoofer is now intermittent. Also, the Bluetooth connection is no longer functional. disappointed that Having spent so much money on a soundbar that has already failed after only one year.

This is a great sounding set. Expensive in comparison to others, but if you have cash to waste, you will not be disappointed.

Just saw a number of requests for a new remote on the Definitive Technology website comments page for this device. we’ve finally figured out why.

Pros

  • Great premium soundbar system
  • Three HDMI switch built in is perfect
  • WOW – a lot of sound for a little size

Cons

  • Not good for people with anger issues

#08 – Definitive Technology SuperCube III 120v Subwoofer (Single, Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The sound quality of this sub is inversely proportionate to its size!! It’s quite simple to set up after you get it out of the box. We used it to connect my Mythos Gems front speakers, and the crossover is excellent. Mythos 7 (also 5 stars!!) was also connected as a front speaker on my Pioneer Elite VSX-23THX. It all came together beautifully. These submarines are extremely nicely constructed and polished. On the other hand, it’s rather hefty, which is understandable given the power it emits. Definitely a five-star rating!!

For its size, this little sub delivers a strong punch. I’m blown away by how deep the bass can go from such a little sub.

This sub is paired with my Polk Audio speakers and Denon receiver. It creates a lot of tight bass for its size. It’s not quite as boomy as the Klipsch sub I replaced. I use it for both movies and music, and it works as well in both cases.

Pros

  • Superb Sound in a Small Container
  • Big sounds from a small sub
  • Great music and HT Sub PERIOD!

Cons

  • Lots of Sound

  • Superb Sound in a Small Container
  • Great music and HT Sub PERIOD!

Cons

  • Lots of Sound

#09 – Definitive Technology CS-8040HD Speaker (Center Channel)

One of the most impressive centre channels we’ve ever heard! In my home, We have a B&W 5.1 system and three Def Tech systems in various configurations, and the cs8040 outperforms them all. With my 8060 fronts, atoms modules, and sm55s as surrounds, the dialogue is crystal clear, and the tone balance is incredible! Definitely would strongly advise everyone to visit this institution. A newer model is available, but it costs twice as much!!

This was purchased to replace an older, smaller centre channel speaker and to complement the newly purchased DefTech BP 9020 front speakers for a 7.1 home entertainment system. Check the speaker’s dimensions and weight before purchasing because it’s a beast. Because there are no mounting brackets on the rear, it must be placed on a shelf.

Pros

  • Definitive Technology, what more Can I say
  • WOW
  • Great upgrade, grab them while you can at this price!

Cons

  • At full price this speaker is a really good center channel speaker

#10 – Definitive Technology Mythos Gem XL Speaker – (Single) Black

Just received my stuff quickly from the vendor. It’s a nice tiny speaker, but make sure you have adequate power to play it. we’d also recommend setting your cross over to 80 hz.

These were purchased to replace my older Bose SE5 headphones. Wow! There’s no comparison. The Gems are really exact and clear. Excellent soundstage. I’m using them in conjunction with a DT ProSub 800 for the low end, and I’d highly suggest them. You will not be let down.

Both the jewels and the xl’s are mine. we’ve given them both a lot of authority, and none of them has resisted it. The xl’s are a little fuller and larger. The sound is great when paired with even a little sub. The music and a decent break in period

Pros

  • Nice looking Speaker
  • Good speakers but supplies are running out
  • Great high quality little speaker

Cons

  • These are Gems
